How Are Same-Day Crowns Made?

Traditional crowns and bridges need time to be fabricated into the shape and size that suitably fit, whereas same-day crowns can be created in the dental office to fit the exact size and shape of your affected teeth.

The process of creating a same-day crown is fairly simple. After the tooth is prepared by removing tooth decay, our doctor will take digital X-rays of the tooth and surrounding area. Then, your bite will be measured to ensure that the new permanent crown will fit perfectly with the rest of your mouth. 

Next, the data our dentist gathered will be uploaded to the CEREC milling machine, which uses 3D technology to create digital images of the prepared tooth and the surrounding teeth. The machine then creates a virtual restoration, which is sent to its special milling unit for completion. Once the crown is finished, it will be placed in your mouth to check its fit and color. If needed, our dentist can make small adjustments to ensure the perfect fit. 

Once everything looks as it should, the crown will be attached to your tooth with a special resin that gives you a strong bond that will last for many years.
