Cleanings & Prevention

Vincent Peredo, Clinical Assistant

A healthy mouth contributes to a healthy body.

Knowledge is power. You want all of the benefits of a healthy mouth, we know you do! While we can give you a sparkling smile, nothing we do in the office can take the place of your homecare! It’s ultimately up to you to care for and maintain it. That’s why we work with you, to teach the skills necessary to maintain a healthy smile for a lifetime.

As you may already know, your healthy mouth contributes to an overall healthy body. In fact, studies show that periodontal disease, an infection of the tissue supporting teeth, has been linked to diabetes, cardiovascular and Alzheimer’s disease. Pre-term birth and low birth weight has also been associated with mothers suffering from periodontal disease during pregnancy.

It's SO important to pay extra attention to your oral health during pregnancy.

You take prenatal vitamins, and work to make sure your nutrition is excellent during your pregnancy so that you give your baby the best shot at a healthy start. Prevention and education are the key to your success. We will partner with you to help you stick to a regular cleaning schedule, and offer the guidance you need to maintain great at-home hygiene. If you and your baby would benefit from an extra dental cleaning during your pregnancy, we will advise you.

Everything in your body is linked. Your mouth "talks" to your body and your body "talks" to your mouth. Here is a graphic that helps you to understand what we mean.

Schedule regular Dental Exams & Cleanings for the Whole Family

Your whole family is welcome here at Provinces Dental.

Baby's first tooth

Did you know? Baby should be seen around the time of their first tooth or first birthday.

We are so sad when we see children who were set on a difficult and painful dental journey, simply because they did not receive dental care early and often enough. Prevention is always easy and painless, and so much better than having to fix problems after they arise.

The best way to do this is through regular dental examination with digital x-rays, and cleanings performed by Registered Dental Hygienists. We make this easy for you by helping you to manage your dental appointments at the appropriate intervals. We do this with text and e-mail reminders. You can email us if you prefer that over calling on the phone.

Practice Good Oral Hygiene

Our hygienists are outstanding oral hygiene instructors. They take your personal habits, likes, dislikes, health history and lifestyle into account and make recommendations for you on how best to care for your teeth. No two people or mouths are the same! You can trust that you are seen and heard for who you are, and that the care recommended for you is entirely individualized to benefit you.

Oral Cancer Screenings Save Lives

Close to 45,750 Americans will be diagnosed with oral cancer this year. It will cause over 8,650 deaths, killing roughly 1 person per hour, 24 hours per day. Of those 45,750 newly diagnosed individuals, only slightly more than half will be alive in 5 years. (Approximately 57%) This is a number which has not significantly improved in decades. While we always visually survey your mouth for oral cancer, we can now provide quick, painless, and inexpensive oral cancer screenings in our office, utilizing VelScope. We offer the Velscope screenings for $25 if insurance does not pay for it.

Call or e-mail us to schedule. We are open six days per week.
