Cosmetic

Did you know that all dentistry should be cosmetic?

At Provinces Dental, we strive to make any restoration in your mouth fit your face and smile, making your teeth look better than before you came to our office. Our doctors have completed and continue to pursue continuing education courses in smile design, esthetics and restoration to deliver only the best service to our customers.

Have you stopped smiling in public or in photos? Do you look at your teeth in the mirror and feel dissatisfied or embarrassed by their appearance? We can give you the smile you’ve always wanted. Because we perform so many interdisciplinary procedures in our office, we can implement a combination of techniques including dental implants, root canals, crowns, bridges, veneers, whitening and even esthetic over-dentures to serve your cosmetic and functional needs.

Veneers:

Cosmetic Veneers are a welcome solution for those who need a total smile make-over due to wear or breakage, intrinsic staining, old bonding, decay or fillings that have diminished in appearance over time. A Veneer is a layer of porcelain that covers and beautifies the underlying tooth, vastly improving your smile and promoting a younger, happier and healthier appearance. Our office is proud to use only the finest dental laboratories for the manufacturing of esthetic veneers and crowns. Review some of our before and after photos to see just how dramatic this improvement can be.

Interested in Veneers?:

At your first appointment, our doctors sit down with you and devise a smile design solution specifically suited for your needs. We take photos, study models and impressions. These impressions are then sent to our dental lab, which is one of the best and most qualified in the country. It’s there that a wax-up is creed to provide a visual before we even begin the procedure.

At your second appointment, we discuss your wax-up with you and make adjustments if necessary. If you’re satisfied with the wax-up, we begin the veneer preparation process. First, gentle local anesthesia is administered to your teeth. If decay is present in the teeth receiving veneers, it’s removed and we conduct a build-up to replace the defective tooth structure. Veneer preparations are completed by removing a thin layer of the tooth enamel (about 0.5 to 1 mm). Following preparations, an impression is taken and sent to our lab for veneer fabrication. You leave the office the same day with a temporary that is close to how your actual veneers will look.

Your third and final appointment involves veneer cementation. At this time, temporaries are removed and veneers are carefully and gently cemented onto the tooth with a high-grade bond and cement. Veneers function just like natural teeth while offering a much more esthetic appearance.

Whitening:

Whitening is a safe and easy cosmetic procedure typically performed in our office. We offer two types of whitening services, the latest ZOOM! 2™ system, which brightens your smile up to eight shades lighter in just one hour, and our at-home custom trays that you can use anywhere at your convenience. More and more of our patients are asking for a whiter smile, and we’re happy to answer any questions you might have about our safe and effective processes.

Zoom! 2™:

Zoom! 2™ whitening is one of our most popular procedures conducted conveniently at our office in just one hour. Zoom! 2™ can whiten your teeth by as much as eight shades. As an added bonus, after the Zoom! 2™ process is complete, you’ll also receive at-home custom trays that you can take with you and use anytime you need a touch-up.

How does Zoom! 2™ whitening work? We begin by isolating your teeth and painting a light-activated gel on the surface. The active ingredient in this gel, Hydrogen Peroxide, breaks down with the assistance of the Zoom lamp to release oxygen that enters the enamel and dentin, thus bleaching the tooth. Zoom! 2™ whitening is extremely safe and does not compromise the integrity of the tooth structure in any way. Zoom! 2™ whitening gel is painted onto your teeth in three 15-minute sessions. Fluoride is administered for five minutes to complete the process.

Whitening Trays:

At-home whitening trays are offered to patients who opt to complete their whitening process in the comfort of their own home. Impressions are taken at our office, and custom-made trays are fabricated. Clients may purchase whitening gels from our office that offer a higher concentration of bleach than otherwise found in products sold at drugstores or supermarkets. This higher bleach concentration delivers faster and more advanced results than over-the-counter bleach or whitening toothpaste. Patients receive detailed instructions on the proper use of their whitening trays to promote optimal benefits.

Not everyone is an ideal whitening candidate. If you have any of the following, please let us know so that we may offer effective alternative solutions.

  • Large composite restorations or crowns: If you choose to whiten, you may need to replace any restoration that does not match after the whitening procedure. Large composite restorations or crowns will not whiten.
  • Severe tetracycline staining
  • Existing periodontal disease: Any type of periodontal disease should be addressed prior to cosmetic bleaching.
  • Pregancy or lactating patients
  • Extreme tooth sensitivity: If you have extremely sensitive teeth, they may become irritated by the ingredients used during the whitening process. We highly recommend the use of a sensitivity toothpaste like Sensodyne™ the week before and after whitening to help decrease any resulting sensitivity.
